Keep your child safe and secure in the car with the Frontier Harness-2-Booster seat from Britax. Loaded with comfort and safety features, the Frontier is ideal for children ready to transition from their convertible car seat. It accommodates a weight capacity of up to 80 pounds in forward-facing, and serves as a vehicle belt-positioning booster for children weighing up to 100 pounds. The Frontier is also certified for air travel.

The Frontier can accommodate children up to a 100 pounds. View larger.
Easy Installation and Adjustment
The safety of your child depends on the correct installation of his or her car seat. That's why the Frontier offers a truly parent-friendly design for quick and easy set-up and adjustment. First, the premium push-button LATCH (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) connectors ensure a fast, simple and tight installation so you know your child is secure. The tangle-free, five-point harness has eight harness heights you can adjust with one hand, and three buckle positions for a snug and secure fit. For added convenience, the headrest adjusts quickly without requiring you to re-thread the straps.

True Enhanced Side Impact Protection for Peace of Mind
The Frontier also gives you additional peace of mind by featuring engineered true side impact protection. Deep side walls and head support provide advanced shock-absorption and cushioning in side impact collisions, helping to reduce the risk of injury. Additionally, EPS (Expanded Polystyrene) impact foam lining around baby's head and torso absorbs energy in side and rear impacts, cradles baby's head to keep it away from protruding parts, cushions violent side to side movements, and creates a comfortable resting spot.

Safe for Growing Children
Besides True Enhanced Side Impact Protection, the Frontier boasts other advanced safety features that provide optimum protection. Most importantly, the patented Versa-Tether fastens the top of the car seat to factory installed automobile anchor points, reducing the possibility of a head injury. This system also allows for rear-facing tethering to help keep the seat stable.

Comfort and Convenience
Car trips should be pleasant, and the Frontier has everything your child needs to relax and enjoy the ride. Dual cup holders are great for sippy cups, snacks and toys, while the armrest invites your little one to sit back and watch the world go by. Comfort foam helps make naptime cozy and restful, too, by supporting your child's neck and head in a comfortable position.

The Frontier is designed to be used in the forward-facing position, with the harness, when children are two years old and weigh between 25 and 80 pounds, with a standing height of 30 to 53 inches. The booster is intended for children weighing 40 to 100 pounds and with a standing height of 42 to 60 inches.

The Frontier measures 19.5 x 22.0 x 26.5 inches (WxHxD) and weighs 23.5 pounds.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome seat...........watch the installation video on the britax site!!   March 6, 2010
Momof2dboys
Ofcourse this is a awesome seat, as is all Britax seats i have owned. It is different than my Marathon, but as long as you read the manual or watch their installation video on their website, installation is easy. I had it installed with the latch mode in a few minutes. There are two ways to install with a seatbelt which are also easy as long as you watch the video. Just make sure you move the recline block on the seat bottom to the proper position for the mode you are in. I bought this for my almost 5yr old so i could keep him in a harness longer and he has no complaints. Its like a recliner for the car and i wish i could ride in it. His head doesnt slump when he falls asleep and he looks very comfortable. I would definately say this was worth my money and i plan to buy another for my 3yr old when he outgrows his marathon. Awesome!!

4 out of 5 stars Not Hard to Install   March 6, 2010
Wickerman (Denver, CO)
Had the seat for a couple months. Install wasn't bad, similar to other seats. Seems like a very secure seat, it gives you the feeling of an infant seat with the harness and having it "permanently" attached to the car. I think that's the draw of this thing--parents don't trust the boosters that you have to "seat buckle" your kid in every time. I'm sure they are just as safe, but it is nice to put this seat in ONE time and then have the harness to deal with when you use it rather than triple checking your buckle job every trip with other boosters. NOTE: If you are buying this because it has the LATCH system, you likely won't be able to use it if your kid is booster size. There is a WEIGHT LIMIT for LATCH. I researched this and it's hard to find, but most car/trucks will defer to booster seat guidelines for LATCH weight which I believe (been a while), is 40 or 45 pounds. Our daughter was a couple pounds under the limit at 3.5 yrs old so we didn't use LATCH since we'd have to change it soon. SO, LATCH is for infant weight/small toddlers only.

1 out of 5 stars Stop and rethink this carseat!   March 3, 2010

This is a great carseat if you are always always going to use the latch system. However, the latch belt is not connected to the carseat. We found this out the hard way when traveling by air and received our carseat without a latch belt! It fell off in transit and now the seat is essentially useless because Britax DOES NOT replace the latch belts! ! !! This is the most useless and unsafe carseat when used with a lap belt so do not, I repeat do not buy this carseat if you will ever encounter a time when there is no latch system in the car. We couldn't use the latch system in our airport shuttle nor in the rental car at our destination. We tried repeatedly to use the lap belt according to manufacturer instructions and the seat moves at least 3" from side to side. I strongly recommend buying another seat!

5 out of 5 stars The Best and Made in the USA   February 19, 2010

I had no idea that buying a good toddler car seat would be so maddeningly complex and frustrating.

I have a 3.5yr old girl, weights 28lbs, and is 40.5" tall (she's adorable). We had a Britax Roundabout Convertible Car Seat Onyx before which we loved! We'd had bad experiences with car babyseats before. We had a Graco whose straps were very hard to adjust and that made it a very frustrating car seat....but we loved our Roundabout.

So when we went out to look for the next toddler seat we wanted a few things;

a) 5 point restraint
b) High weight 5 point restraing (more than 65lbs)
c) Easy to Adjust
d) Tilt back mechanism
e) Easy to install, uninstall (travel)
f) Durable (she's going to have it for years
g) Repairable (replaceable seat covers etc

We wound up narrowing it down to two: this Britax Frontier and Graco Nautilus 3-in-1 Car Seat, Matrix. In the process we wound up abandoning the tilt mechanism because apparently it's not as safe.

PROS of this SEAT:
- 5 point harness ( I have heard horror stories, I'll only put my kid in 5 point restraints and if tanks were legal, I'd transport her in one)
- 80lb 5 point harness (highest in industry...watch for this some 5 point harneses from other brands are only rated to 40lbs)
- Very Durable
- Easy to Adjust (height, one hand)
- Easy to Install (the latch system is great)
- Easy to Travel (the latches snap into their own recesses if you have to drag this through an airport)
- Cup holders (on both sides) fold into the seat very snuggly
- Foldable Armrests (she likes that, it's empowering to her)
- Easy to Adjust straps Pull cord tab in front with easy release for parents (but not so easy for munchkins)
- Three Point attachement to car (2 latches + clip on top)
- MADE IN THE USA .... hey, it matters these days (creates jobs right here)
- her head doesn't fall forward when she sleeps (nice) and she has side headrests
- Side Impact protection (which doubles of headrest)
- She said to me, "Daddy, I can see better out of this seat (compared to roundabout)....that made it worth it"

CONS:
- You do have to loosen up the top back strap on the seat and reach behind to adjust the height (not a big deal but though you'd know)
- It's pricey but you get what you pay for in this case.
- Doesn't recline (but I hear that's not as safe so it might be best if she sits up)
- Not a 3 in 1 or anything like that (but you lose some sturdiness I think....and pedestals are very cheap when she's over 80lbs which is going to be a long time from now)

We wound up buying two of these suckers, one for each car, and we're very happy (if financially ruined).

So overall, I'm very happy with this purchase - I feel my daughter is safe and comfortable and I feel very comfortable that this produce will grow with her for years to come. And that's one thing that I highly recommend you keep in mind --- your child will be in her toddler seat for a long time so if you put her into a sample car seat, don't just picture her as she looks now, picture her how she'll look in 2 or 3 years. That was a big thing about this Frontier and a big selling point over another brand -- I worried that she wouldn't be comfortable in a year or two when her legs get longer, hips get wider, and she gets taller. The Britax has the room to grow with her. The other thing was the construction, it's very sturdy and will last for years, and with the replaceable covers I think it'll serve me for the next munchkin (whose on the way).

Notice: I cannot provide any installation advice (I'm just a dad and wholey unqualified)...I recommend you read all instructions or have your seat professionally installed. It can be a matter of life and death -- be very thorough in your installation process.

5 out of 5 stars Pretty Simple Installation   February 18, 2010

Hello all. I've read about the installation headaches and thought I'd share my experience. I just installed 2 of these last night, 1 into a Toyota Sienna, and the other into a Toyota Prius. In both cases, I used the long belt path method with the seat in "harness mode" and had no problems getting a tight fit. I had originally planned on using the LATCH method but since my kids are approaching the 40 lb anchor limit, I used the belt instead. I read the included manual for the different installation methods and really had no problems - each seat took less than 10 minutes, and that included getting the old ones out and cleaning up lost cheerios, etc. One thing that really helped was to pull the seat belt all the way out and attach a vice grips to the belt right where it retracts into the belt holder. This prevented the belt from retracting while I routed it through the seat. Once I had the seat installed, I removed the vice grips and worked on tightening the belt to get a secure fit. Driving my knee into the back/bottom of the seat really helped to take out the slack. If you do this, just be careful not to damage the seat belt by over tightening the vice grips. So, over all, I was very happy with the installation and the seat. In fact, since we have twins, we just ordered 2 more.
